Lali Alvarez
Author, stage director, creator of art projects with the community, mentor and teacher.
Her work focuses on documentary and artistic creation inspired by reality, work in non-conventional spaces and research of spectator relationship and participatory creation, with the overriding theme of sustainable culture research.
Her works have premiered in theaters such as the Teatre Lliure de Barcelona, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya and Antic Teatre or in festivals such as Festival Grec, Festival Temporada Alta or FiraTàrrega.
He studied Philosophy at the University of Barcelona, Stage Direction and Dramaturgy at the Institut de Teatre. He also trained in audiovisual production, writing, politics and artistic creation in public space in places as diverse as the Venice Biennale, the Master in Street Arts at Fira Tàrrega, or the Estruch in Sabadell.
After participating as an assistant director in projects such as "Sé de un lugar" by Iván Morales, or as a co-creator in community creation projects such as "SOM" by the company Amantis, in 2015 she premiered her first text work "Ragazzo" with which she won, among others, the Serra d'Or critics' award for Best Show, the Recomana critics' award for Best Show for young people and emerging actor, or the audience award at the Huesca International Theatre and Dance Fair. The work has had several seasons in Barcelona (Nau Ivanow, Teatre Eòlia, Teatre Lliure, Barcelona Districte Cultural) and in Madrid (Teatro del Barrio), and a long national tour with more than 150 performances. Also in 2015 she directed the community creation project "TEMPS" at the El Redós nursing home in Sant Pere de Ribes, within the Fes + Chapeau Festival.
In 2016, with the company LAPúBLICA, he premiered "Barcelona (contra la paret)" at FiraTàrrega, with which he has been performing for 3 seasons in Barcelona (Antic Teatre and Barcelona Cultural District). The same year, he directed the community artistic creation project "Assemblea Catex, Felipa, Nosaltres" in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona with the participation of more than 150 neighbors and entities, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Can Felipa Civic Center.
Between 2017 and 2021 he is a resident artist at the Nau Ivanow Creation Factory, where he founded the company HuiBasa. During this period, he premiered "Disseny Hug" (2018), an intervention for public space at the Barcelona Design Museum, "Tha Tzpar (l'espera)" (2018), a multidisciplinary Site Specific show premiered at Fira Tàrrega, "Encontres a Vanuatu" a community artistic creation project premiered at Sala Beckett (2018), "Mateix dia, metissa hora, metissa lloc" (2019), a community scenic creation project premiered at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya and "LIFE (de cómo los árboles nos salvaron la vida)" (2020), his latest text to date, created in the midst of the pandemic and premiered at the Jardí Botànic during the Grec Festival in July 2020 and re-premiered at the Antic Teatre in January 2021. In 2020 and 2021 he was the artistic director of the first two editions of the "Escena Pilot" project of the Teatre lliure and the Municipal Institute of Education of the Barcelona City Council, a teacher training and collective creation project between 70 students from 4 high schools in the city.
In 2022 he directed "Mi madre en Bragas" by the Companyia Cándida, premiered at the Tantarantana Theater and the community creation project "The Unfinished Human Manifesto" premiered at Fira Tàrrega 2022 within the framework of the Support for Creation program, of which in 2023 and 2024 two new reproductions were made in VIlassar de Dalt within the framework of the cultural actions for 8M and at the Casa Orlandai Cultural Center in Sarrià (Barcelona) for World Homeless Day, promoted by VULNUS - Living Arts.
In 2023, he directed "Clarissa or seven failed suicide attempts" by Carlos Be at the Badabadoc theater.
During 2023 and 2024 she has been a mentor for the European project BETA CIRCUS, accompanying two international artists: Melody Nolan (USA) and Omer Van Soldtz (Netherlands) in the creation of their Weaving Windows project.
She is an acting teacher at the EÒLIA School of Dramatic Art in Barcelona and also teaches courses and workshops on creation based on reality and in unconventional spaces, or on artistic creation with the community.
